Who and What

Turning Interest Into Action

We are the Projects with Underserved Communities (PUC) Team Thailand for 2021-2022! Us five engineering students from the University of Texas at Austin are responsible for fundraising, planning, designing, and building a first aid room for Ban Huai Yang Elementary School. We are driven by our passion for humanitarian engineering and hope that this project will create a sustainable, positive impact on this community.

We are partnering with the New Life Church in Suphan Buri who works closely with surrounding schools and villages, including the school in Ban Huai Yang. This partnership will help us understand the needs of the community as we plan and design our project and tailor it to their needs. We will be collaborating with professors, engineers, and local contractors throughout the process to receive advice on the feasibility of our designs for the community.

Our project revolves around converting a garage area on the side of the school to a well-functioning first aid room (clinic) for the students in the school. This is something they have voiced as a necessity as COVID-19 took a toll on the region where vaccinations are scarce. We will work to complete all aspects of the structure, including: pouring foundational cement, laying out the structure, constructing walls, plumbing, and implementing electricity to the room.
